This facility has been designed to function as the disaster preparedness/information hub for Fujisawa-shi to secure the safety of the citizens through the establishment of swift initial action measures and the clarification of disaster contingency planning in the event of large scale disasters such as earthquakes. This project was determined through PFI style proposals and was commissioned by Fujisawa City. Following design and construction, building operation and maintenance systems and other systems for fire-fighting, fire prevention and information management were configured, and maintenance management and information processing tasks implemented. This building will be managed for 20 years after operation commencement.
As a part of the Fujisawa City town hall complex, the design takes coordination with existing town hall facilities into consideration, and utilizes a seismic isolation structure (laminated rubber bearings, elastic sliding bearings) to ensure safety as a disaster preparedness center. In addition, in order to accommodate future working environments, each room is configured from a basic module.
