The outpatient building was planned as the final stage which concludes the long-term redevelopment project of Nagoya University Campus. To establish a welcoming hospital for everybody, the entrance is composed of a 4-story atrium with a double-skin curtain wall, which aims to generate a sense of unity with the adjacent Tsuruma Park.
The building is divided into 5 zones: the access zone with an atrium at its core, which continues into the bright waiting zone, the highly flexible long-span (18 m*9 m) medical treatment zone, the work zone with Livelink stations for communication, and the equipment zone that controls the multi-split type air-conditioning system.
In terms of the structure, soil stabilization has been conducted by the deep mixing method and a seismic isolation structure has been implemented to ensure the maintenance of functions during natural catastrophes as a disaster preparedness center. With these in mind, the goal is to establish an outpatient clinic, worthy to be a part of a leading hospital of the 21st century, by improving the safety and reliability required for a medical facility.
