This building was established to maintain and exhibit under a single roof the historical materials related to the independent technological developments made by NTT (formerly Dendenkosha) over 50 years after the end of the war. This museum was established in the grounds of the research facilities on the understanding that historical knowledge is essential to the formation of new value and ideas.
As a facility located in the richly green Bunkyo district, the building does not over assert itself, and due consideration was given to the balance and feeling of scale with the other research facilities. Exhibits from each era are presented inside the four level "fukinuke" style tiered atrium in a configuration that allows the visitor to take in the general sweep of progress across the decades.
