The on-site reconstruction of this 301 beds hospital is being conducted in three phases. Due to restrictions in the reconstruction plan, work commenced on the premise that Phase 1 would see the completion of the wards, theatres, RI, rehabilitation, machine and canteen, etc. In the wards, there are approximately 50 beds for each nursing unit with 16% of beds in private rooms. There are six operating theatres with recovery corridors. The same LD type rooms are available for both labor and delivery. In relation to the basement radiology department, the adjacent space has been earmarked for future expansion. This building's steel structure with damping also ensures overall future flexibility for live load, The centrally positioned light garden and the surrounding high ceiling entrance hall serves as the central space for the entire building. The essence of this spatial configuration is to allow an individual to instantly grasp his/her location within the building. Artwork has also been placed throughout the hospital to create a relaxing feel. Furthermore, in anticipation of snowfall, the exterior of the building has been designed with few irregular contours.
