NTT Facilities Shin-Ohashi Building is a demonstration experiment office in which the developed technologies are implemented to our own workplace on a trial basis for verification. Overlooking the Sumida River, the building looks out to an aesthetic landscape and receives a cool breeze off the River. Our primary aim was to create a comfortable office that provides a feel of a natural environment while ensuring high energy efficiency by integrating a wide array of environmental technologies in relation to information, power, air conditioning, structure, and exterior walls. Although the features employed, including a river-side terrace, manual sliding patio doors, exposed ceilings, and an atrium staircase, are not anything new, the resulting space retains an open and pleasant feel that modern offices rarely have. This project was awarded a Gold certification under the internationally recognized green building certification program, LEED, in the New Construction category (LEED for New Construction v3), becoming the second award winner in Japan.
