The Omiya Park Soccer Stadium (NACK 5 Stadium Omiya) was constructed in 1964 as a venue for the Tokyo Olympics. It was the first dedicated soccer stadium to be built in Japan, and is currently the home stadium of the J-League team Omiya Ardija.
In order to conform to J1 (J-League) specifications, plans were drawn up to increase the number of spectator seats as well as the various operational facilities. To this end, the main stand was refurbished while the two side-stands and the back-stand were extended to increase seating capacity to approximately 15,400 spectators. Furthermore, the existing main-stand has a new membrane roof structure which is free standing at ground level.
While the seats and the history and tradition have been exploited to preserve the charm of the original stadium and a true feel of being there, the additional new infrastructure, designed specifically for the convenience of users, transforms the stadium into a modern facility.
