The Ginza Raffinato (formerly the Kyobashi Hall) is a complex accommodation facility constructed in 1971, originally incorporating a swimming pool, a wedding venue and a banquet hall. The pool, once a favorite haunt of Ginza's female office workers, had since been decommissioned due to a decline in patronage. The recent renovation work acted as the catalyst to rejuvenate the pool area through a change in usage. The first stage of the renovation work incorporated plans to utilize the deep and shallow sections of the pool to create a chapel and a banquet hall. In the section of the pool area which had an atrium, one half of the pool was covered over to create a banqueting area. At the other deeper end of the pool, the depth was utilized to create a chapel and a fountain was added in commemoration of the pool. In the second stage of renovation, the banquet facilities were extended in order to facilitate a "chapel + 2 banquets" operational format.
