This is the first airport facility building project undertaken by this company. The building has exceptionally high functionality, reliability and safety specifications.
In order to ensure safe security a mid-level floor functioning as a dedicated arrivals concourse has been introduced between Departures on the 2nd floor and Arrivals on the 1st floor. When combined with the Terminal 1 building, the facility has a floor area of 470,000 m2 and a total 39 boarding gates making this the biggest airport in Japan. In addition, with a design that should become a model for future public transportation facilities, thorough consideration has been given to measures for vulnerable travelers.
Other than the terminal functions, there are also facilities that provide services to passengers such as airline company offices and stores, hotels, etc, creating a diverse and multi-functional complex. This terminal has been designed on the premise of future expansion. This building will eventually become part of a larger whole, combining with the south and north piers to form a single structure with a "three-sides-of-a-square"configuration.
