Daikanyama has the characters of both an advanced commercial area from which new cultures spread and an old residential area, which once was populated by prominent mansions with a large remnant of Musashino. Wellith Daikanyama Sarugakucho is located in the junction of these different areas.
This is in fact a joint project involving urban development of city blocks which include the adjacent commercial facility, Daikanyama T-Site. The design aims to provide the residents with the benefit of an excellent living environment in the residential area of Daikanyama, characterized by its convenience, liveliness, verdure, and hospitality. It also aims for city blocks that contribute to the formation of a high-quality cityscape.
The objectives of the project are to encourage community revitalization suitable for Daikanyama, by constituting human scale in each city block and connecting both, rather than being satisfied with the completion of individual properties, and to develop an attractive and superior urban environment by raising the values of, not just the real estate, but also the living environment and the city blocks. With that in mind, a residence design which takes account of the locational attributes and a living space design which seeks "superior comfort" have been achieved.
