This building was designed to function as the mobile communications network center for the Kansai region in order to support expanding 3rd generation mobile communications services (FOMA) and other new multi-media related services.
The building stands 12 floors above ground and has a steel
communications tower on the roof. It is the largest DoCoMo node building in Japan. All floors are designed to house information and communications equipment. Floor space is maximized on every floor with an area of approximately 5,400 m2, and the information and communications equipment rooms are column-less to increase layout flexibility. The design incorporates extensibility to allow for future extensions, and is equipped with 92 seismic isolators and 46 aseismatic devices. Duplicate transmission grids have been installed along with auxiliary GTG power generation facilities (Gas Turbine Generator) to assure the high reliability and security required of a node building.
