This building, located in the eastern area of Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture, serves as the headquarters of a manufacturer of wire harnesses for automobiles. As the building was planned in a section on the factory premises in a rural landscape, it was constructed with a simple composition of grid structure to achieve harmony with the existing factory building, an omnidirectional appearance which attracts visibility from the adjoining Tokaido Shinkansen and column-less open interior spaces with a feel of the expansive scenery in the distance. The entire factory was reformed as a workplace where intellectual productivity and creativity are refined by renovating the existing factory building at the same time to interlink the whole area, instead of having isolated individual buildings.
