Standing on the Kanda-Myojin Road/Showa Road intersection, this is a commercial building designed for a site commonly known as the belly button of Akihabara.
In an area inundated with advertisements, the central aim of the facade design was the "integration of advertisements". Making full use of a site with roads on all four sides, the design creates a single object with a volume taking up almost the maximum legally allowable capacity. The facade achieves a rhythmical quality with an uneven surface pattern formed from PCa plates with the "apertures" designed to function as displays under the advertisement premise. The seemingly complicated pattern is achieved through the use of four different types of PCa plate. Aggregate and sand was used to coordinate color with blast finishing applied to create a textured "stone sculpture" feel. The "apertures" integrated into the facade pattern immediately began to fulfill their functions as "advertising media" upon completion.
