Minato Park Shibaura is the biggest public complex facility in the district that offers services of government administration, lifelong learning, and health improvement. The building houses a variety of facilities, such as Shibaura-konan Regional City Office, the Citizens Collaborative Project Space where the government and the citizens work together to solve municipal issues, a sports center that contributes to health improvement, the first Nursing Independence General Center in the 23 wards of Tokyo, the gender equality center, and a consumer center. The facility fulfills the basic functions as a public building while ensuring easy accessibility for various users and long-term safe and reliable use for everyone. On top of that, the design emphasizes harmonious coexistence with nature by incorporating the leading edge green technologies, wood materials, and spaces with abundant greenery.
With the design concepts of "building a complex dressed in trees and greenery," the facility provides spaces where visitors can feel the blessings of nature through an open atrium, the symbolic escalator tower, light and wind, bountiful greenery, and texture. In addition, the use of wood materials in all kinds of interior and exterior components was encouraged as a model plan of the Minato Model Carbon Dioxide Fixation Certification System.
