This telecommunications facility was designed and built near the Ryogoku station over a six year period from 1996 to 2004. While securing the quality required of a node building, another theme in the design of the facility was the resolution of issues unique to a telecommunications tower such as compliance with the Redevelopment District Plan, floors plans with a focus on accommodating changes in the future, and the construction of server rooms in a high rise building. For this project, the pursuit of monumental configurations and rationality was avoided, and the design creates a light and fluid image with a unified overall identity through the balance of volume between the tower, covered with an encapsulating membrane, and the building, and the uniform expression of horizontal lines as the keynote of the design.
