This is a training facility with accommodations that is composed of a housing wing with approximately 400 rooms, and a conference wing with the training rooms that can hold 250 people.
Employing a circulating plan in which 4 linked buildings surround a courtyard along the main axis extending from the training facility section for learning, the facility is constructed with a simple and compact structure having the communal areas such as the cafeteria, bathrooms, and the entrance on the lower levels, and individual spaces such as lodging rooms on the second floor and above. Lounges and study rooms are set up on the lodging floors to encourage communications among the trainees. The facility achieves a large reduction in energy consumption by incorporating a variety of environmental technologies, including natural ventilation through the airways in the communal areas, a hot water system composed of solar water heating panels, a heat recovery gas boiler and a hot water circulation system, rooftop greening, and solar power generation panels. A checkered pattern is created by the horizontal lines of the balconies, which allow evacuation from the lodging rooms and maintenance, and woody louvers to provide this training center a new appearance.
