Until a few years ago, this development area in the suburbs of Shanghai was completely untouched. However, it has in recent years become a site of rapid development due to policies implemented in a bid to attract leading companies. This building, standing in one sector of this development site, serves as the head office of an IT software development company. With our sights set on creating a building to serve as a "technologies showroom" and realizing the embodiment of the corporate philosophy emphasizing hospitality for customers and staff, we endeavored to design an IT office environment of the highest standards in China while achieving an active balance with the landscape. The design incorporates an L-shaped office block positioned along the peripheral road to the site, which creates a quiet inner-garden style open space in contrast to the city-side of the development. The end result is an open office environment with a constant seasonal feel afforded by light, water and the green landscape.
