This facility realizes the "City center university campus" concept through the rational layering of diverse functions and uses. In terms of architectural composition, the facility consists of a "Classroom block" that incorporates the functional arrangement and layering of classrooms, and the "Arena block", which consists of large functional spaces such as arenas and halls, also in a layered configuration. The two blocks are joined by the central atrium and inner gardens that form the focal point of human flow and communication in the campus. The Classroom block adopts a long-span design to realize highly flexible spaces. In addition, the building employs a seismic isolation structure (basement column capital) to secure high earthquake safety, while in terms of considerations for the environment, the building utilizes the stairwell for natural ventilation, and also adopts a rainwater harvesting system, and a heat storage by water + GHP air conditioning system to realize a "Safe and environmentally friendly campus". In terms of study and university administration, cutting edge NTT Group audio visual system functions have been installed to realize an "IT Campus" that also encompasses the existing Ichihara Campus. The plans of the facility also allow for members of the general community to utilize the halls, assembly rooms, medical center, etc, and includes lush sidewalk style open spaces and a plaza to the front of the campus as well as extra disaster preparedness functions, etc, that allow the facility to coordinate with and contribute to the district.
