Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd., Sendai Building

This is indeed a striking office building, its glass curtain wall and terracotta tiles drawing stares all along Aoba Avenue, the zelkova-lined symbol of this "city of trees." The outer walls are made using double-wall method that we at NTT FACILITIES have been using since the old days of the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation, adapted for the colder climate of Sendai. The structure of the building and its exterior materials were designed for high performance across their whole lifecycle in terms of earthquake resistance, durability, energy conservation and maintainability.
